All-In Milwaukee scholars secure internship, research, and academic opportunities this summer through a focused, multi-year approach.
During the academic term, students focus their energy on coursework and on-campus engagement opportunities, building expertise in their majors and balancing credit loads to graduate within four to six years. In the background, All-In Milwaukee scholars are also working diligently to answer one simple question: What am I doing this summer? Summer break offers an opportunity for experiential learning – one that helps build the professional skills a diploma alone cannot provide.
This summer, more than 130 scholars secured an intentional summer experience – enrichment opportunities designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and a career. Whether an internship aligned with their major, a research fellowship that deepens an area of academic interest, or a study abroad program that expands their perspective as global citizens, these experiences are a cornerstone of the All-In Milwaukee model.
“All-In Milwaukee has supported me through mentorship, career guidance, and professional development opportunities. Their support helped me build confidence, prepare for internships, and connect with professionals within Milwaukee.”
Summer Helps Fuel All-In Milwaukee Career Development Goals
The current job and internship market is more competitive than ever. According to Handshake, internship postings dropped 15% between January 2023 and January 2025. For college students navigating that landscape without an established professional network, the headwinds are real.
That is why All-In Milwaukee does not wait until senior year to position scholars for post-graduation success. Beginning in their first year, scholar advisors work one-on-one with students to help them identify their interests, strengths, and career goals. From the Summer Institute Career Fair to resume-building workshops – all informed and supported by experienced career partners – scholars are supported at every stage of the job search process.
Career readiness is embedded throughout the All-In Milwaukee experience, focusing on 10 career core competencies that are revisited and deepened each year. The expectation is that by senior year, scholars have mastered the skills needed to present themselves professionally in any setting, including during interviews and offer negotiation.
“Intentional Career Experiences are not just add-ons to a scholar’s journey—they are essential. They bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world application, helping scholars see themselves in spaces they may not have imagined before. By encouraging scholars to actively pursue these opportunities, we help them gain clarity not only about what excites them, but also what does not—so they can make more informed, confident decisions about their futures.”
This model has shown success, as reflected in All-In Milwaukee results over the last several years. In 2023-24, 66% of rising upperclassmen secured intentional experiences; in 2024-25, 60% had confirmed placements; and as of May 2026, 55% of current scholars have confirmed placements (with more to come!). As the landscape grows more competitive, the team continues coaching scholars through an increasingly rigorous process, and the results continue to speak for themselves.
