Phong Yue Yang is a proud member of the All-In Milwaukee team as a Scholar Advisor. Growing up in Milwaukee, Phong Yue understands the importance of social and educational guidance for individuals with minoritized backgrounds. He is an advocate of life-long learning, organizational leadership, and self-love.
His experience as a professional and a scholar in the non-profit, private, and public sectors leads his path to make a difference by supporting students. Prior to the Scholar Advisor role, Phong Yue served the last four years in higher education with the University of Wisconsin (UW) Systems, first as an Assistant Hall Director in Residence Life at UW – River Falls and then as an Academic Advisor at UW – Oshkosh within TRIO Student Support Services.
Before joining the UW Systems, Phong Yue served with the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee (BGCGM) first with Graduation Plus through AmeriCorps as a College Coach where he is also an Alum of the Sponsor-A-Scholar Program. Phong Yue then worked with BGCGM Career Development as a Program Coordinator supporting Milwaukee scholars’ career initiatives.
He has a B.A. in Communication Studies with a minor in Public Relations from Marquette University where he is an Alum of the Educational Opportunity Program. He also earned a M.S.Ed. in Student Affairs Administration from the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse.
